Upgrading My Transportation

After driving an old, beat-up car for years, I finally made the decision to upgrade my transportation. I had set aside a little money every month to use as a down payment, and I was ready to make a new car my own. I searched loads of car dealerships in my area, but one business stood out to me in particular. The salespeople were kind and not pushy, and they had a reputation for fair deals. I worked with them to find the right car, and the paperwork was a breeze. This blog is all about upgrading your transportation, and why you shouldn't be afraid to take the plunge.

Details to Confirm Before You Ride a Shuttle Bus to or from the Airport

Lauri Kivela

A shuttle bus is an effective way to travel to or from the airport in the city you live in or are visiting. Although some hotels specifically run airport shuttles, there are a number of private transportation companies that use fleets of shuttle buses to transport travelers where they need to go.

Once you've used this method of airport transportation, you'll likely find it superior to other ways of traveling, and it may thus become your preferred method. For first-time users, however, you'll want to confirm several details before your first trip. Here are some of those details to look into.

Proof of Flight

Some shuttle services require that riders display proof of their flight in order to board the shuttle bus. These services are geared toward air travelers, and thus don't want people who aren't flying to walk to a bus stop and board the shuttle bus. If the transportation service that you're considering using requires that you show proof of your flight, you'll need to either have a printed flight itinerary or a confirmation of your flight loaded on your smartphone. Or, after your flight, you can show a boarding pass to the shuttle bus driver.

City Stops

One of the nice things about boarding a shuttle bus at the airport is that it will be stopping at a number of varied locations throughout the city. Keep in mind, however, that some shuttle buses run on a specific route—they won't necessarily take you to a destination that isn't within this route.

As such, whether you need to go to a hotel, another transportation center such as a train station, or somewhere else, you should always check that your stop is listed on the company's website as an official stop. For other destinations that you believe are along the route, call the service to see if your driver can drop you off where you need to be.

Advance Booking

While some shuttle buses can pick up people along the route who haven't confirmed their ride, others ask that you book this method of transportation in advance. Doing so is a good idea, as if there is a large crowd of travelers at a certain time, the service may choose to run a second shuttle bus to ensure that no one gets stranded. By booking your ride in advance, which you'll often be able to do online, you'll ensure yourself a ride.
