Upgrading My Transportation

After driving an old, beat-up car for years, I finally made the decision to upgrade my transportation. I had set aside a little money every month to use as a down payment, and I was ready to make a new car my own. I searched loads of car dealerships in my area, but one business stood out to me in particular. The salespeople were kind and not pushy, and they had a reputation for fair deals. I worked with them to find the right car, and the paperwork was a breeze. This blog is all about upgrading your transportation, and why you shouldn't be afraid to take the plunge.

Getting Around The Airport Fast! Transportation Options To Help You Get From Gate To Gate

Lauri Kivela

Perhaps the most frustrating thing about flying is not the security checkpoints or waiting in long lines. It is trying to get from gate to gate when your flights are so close together and your arrival and departure gates are so far apart. Trying to hurry to your gate before it closes and getting caught up in the lines is maddening. If you happen to be one of the people stopped for a "random pat down" at security, it takes even longer to get to your departure gate. If you have ever wished to get to your gate faster, here are some of the airport transportation options inside the airport that will make things go faster.

Airport Transit System or "People Mover"

There are several airports that have separate arrival and departure hubs. While this does keep things more organized in terms of incoming and outgoing flights, with incoming flights at one hub and outgoing flights at the other, it creates a travel nightmare for anyone trying to get between hubs quickly. That is why these airports use a transit system, which is a series of rail cars that are devoid of seats and are completely automatic. These cars travel back and forth between hubs nonstop, loading up on people from one hub and taking them to the other. Chicago O'Hare Airport and Orlando's Airport are two such examples of rapid "people mover" transports that get people to hubs and gates quickly.

Transport Carts

You see these flat, low, open carts with people zipping around the airport, right? Well, if you either reserve them in advance of your arrival, or find one with an open spot and pay the driver, you can zip around the airport, too. In general, the carts are reserved on a first-come, first served basis and for people with physical challenges, but drivers are not opposed to taking on extra passengers if they have the room. When you know that you have less than an hour to get from your arrival gate to your next departure gate, it might be a good idea to call ahead and reserve a ride on one of these transport carts.

Segways

Some airports are testing out the use of Segways to help travelers get from gate to gate quickly. These personal transport devices are checked out of a special area in one part of the airport where you slide your debit or credit card to release a Segway to you. At your new departure gate, you check the Segway back into the holding pen nearest to your gate. The Segways also have their own lane of travel in these airports so that no walking passengers are run over accidentally.
