Upgrading My Transportation

After driving an old, beat-up car for years, I finally made the decision to upgrade my transportation. I had set aside a little money every month to use as a down payment, and I was ready to make a new car my own. I searched loads of car dealerships in my area, but one business stood out to me in particular. The salespeople were kind and not pushy, and they had a reputation for fair deals. I worked with them to find the right car, and the paperwork was a breeze. This blog is all about upgrading your transportation, and why you shouldn't be afraid to take the plunge.

The Different Types Of Freight Hauling Services

Lauri Kivela

Freight hauling is the transportation of products, goods, or materials.  There are four main types of freight hauling services: ground, rail, ocean, and air.  While similar in what their main purpose is, each type of service has their own way of accomplishing their freight hauling goals.

Ground freight hauling is generally done by truckload.  Rates are offered based on a full truckload, or less-than-truckload.  The less-than-truckload is available when you do not need to use a full truck to ship whatever your product is, so you only need to pay for filling up part of the truck.  This is great for smaller vendors and companies.  The full-truckload option is exactly what it sounds like.  You would use this option when you have enough freight to fill up an entire truck.  Ground freight hauling is the best option for sending food or other perishable items, and it allows for delivery straight to the destination.

Rail freight hauling charges by full container and less-than-container.  All the freight is packed up in large metal containers that can be easily loaded onto a train, and then it is sent to wherever it needs to go.  It is cheaper than sending it by ground, but only when done over long distances.  It is a great way to ship large, nonperishable items, like cars. It is a very secure way to do freight hauling but can have connectivity issues when trying to get it to other countries.

Ocean freight hauling charges in the same way as rail hauling, by full container and less-than-container.  It is one of the oldest and cheapest freight hauling services.  It is a very reliable way to get your product to different countries at a reasonable cost.  The biggest downside is the amount of time that it takes to haul things across the ocean, which is why it is sometimes better to use air hauling.

Air freight hauling generally charges by weight because the goods that are moved this way can vary so much in size.  The goods can be large pieces of machinery, or they can be as small as handheld electronics.  It is the most expensive way to do freight hauling, but it is also the fastest way to get goods from one place to another.  When companies need more stock of a high-demand product, like electronics, it is generally hauled by air so that the customers can buy it again as soon as possible.
